We will discuss the following:
· 911 Dispatchers / Call Takers will learn the latest strategies for controlling the conversation with callers who are reporting a potential suicide by another, or their own suicide threat.
· Determine the proper questions to ask suicidal callers.
· Learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicidal person.
- The Public Safety Dispatcher will learn how to gather information from a sequential list of questions, as the Dispatcher now becomes an integral team member for this call.
- You will have the opportunity to improve your job performance by learning why and how people commit suicide.
- Create an awareness of the risk factors as well as signs and symptoms in effective suicide prevention.
- Learn how intervention can prevent many suicidal behaviors, if detected and acted upon early enough.
- Learn how to best respond to suicide survivors (all those left behind).
